History:
As part of their KS3 slavery topic, the year 8 pupils visited the International Slavery Museum in Liverpool. Pupils completed activities related to their learning of the Transatlantic Slave Triangle and the impact it had on both West Africa and the North-West of England. Pupils looked at primary sources that they have encountered in lessons such as Olaudah Equiano’s diary and other artefacts taken from the Middle Passage and the Plantations. The ability to analyse and interpret primary and secondary sources is a key discipline in History. The pupils represented the school well as they studied the information throughout the museum.
Geography:
As part of a wider Humanities trip to the International Slavery Museum, Year 8 pupils completed Geographical surveys on Liverpool Albert Docks and asked members of the public questions about their visit to the Docks. The ability to compile, complete and interpret data on surveys is a key discipline in Geography. Pupils also looked at the regeneration of the Docks and compared and contrasted images. Pupils represented the school well as they braved the cold and wind on the waterfront.
