All of our Year 8 students undertook their fieldwork at the coast at New Brighton on the Wirral. The main purpose of the trip was to see coastal defences in action, which prevent the coastline form eroding and protects homes, business as well as the beach itself. The pupils walked the full length of the beach, creating a map of coastal defences such as rock armour, groynes and the sea wall. They then undertook a carrousel of activities including field sketches of coastal defences and environmental surveys of the seaside town. The weather was great and so the final part of the trip before heading home was to have some time on the beach.
